Busick Concerned About Transportation Proposals

A couple of House Joint Resolutions, sponsored by State Representative Louis Riggs, would give voters the opportunity to make major changes to the state’s transportation system. One, HJR 98 proposes a constitutional amendment that would give the legislature the authority to veto MoDOT’s spending plans. Representative Danny Busick of Newtown is on the House Transportation Accountability Committee.

HJR 109 would be an amendment to dissolve the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, and instead give oversight of MoDOT to a director appointed by the governor. Busick says he’s concerned that transportation decisions will be more political.

Busick says he thinks both proposals will have a hard time getting through the House.
