The two Truman State basketball teams, who went a combined 17-3 in the month of January, started February on the right foot with a sweep of William Jewell at Pershing Arena Saturday afternoon.

Sloane Totta connected on a career-high six triples and scored 23 points to lead the Bulldog women to a 72-65 victory. It was Truman’s fifth straight win. The Cardinals never led but only trailed by four in the fourth quarter. This spurt gave the Bulldogs some breathing room….

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Katie Jaseckas had her second double-double in as many Saturdays with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Katey Klucking of Columbia grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out eight assists and chipped in five points. Coach Theo Dean said Totta’s 6-of-9 performance from the arc was big….

Totta’s five helpers moved her into sixth place on the career list for assists with 329. The Bulldogs improve to 11-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and 15-4 overall. The Cardinals drop to 4-8 in the GLVC and 8-12 overall.

Six players scored in double figures and the Truman men blew out William Jewell 92-63. Leading by three midway through the first half the Bulldogs caught fire from distance….

The Bulldogs hit 13-of-23 to shoot 56.5 percent from the arc which ties for the 10th best three-point percentage all-time in a Truman game. Coach Jeff Horner couldn’t come up with any negatives….

Horner’s ‘Dogs shot almost 62 percent from the field. Brodric Thomas led with 20 points and Cade McKnight followed with 19. The Bulldogs improve to 10-2 in the GLVC to eclipse last year’s conference win total and moved to 14-6 overall which matches last year’s win total. The Cardinals drop to 3-9 in the league and 8-12 overall.

Truman will stay at home and welcome Lindenwood to Pershing Arena on Thursday night. We will broadcast the games on KRES starting at 5:15.
