Brunswick Boys Secure Co-CLAA Title, Higbee Girls Roll

Steven Findley Jr with the call on KIRK and centralmoinfo.com as the Brunswick Wildcats captured a share of their first CLAA conference title since 2000. Entering the fourth quarter up 33-31 over Higbee, Brunswick sophomore Colby Jenkins produced 12 of his 16 points in the final frame.

Sophomore Troy Zeilstra contributed 14 points off of four three-point makes in the 56-50 victory. Coach Colton Byrd said his young team is picking up valuable experiences late in the season.

Two Tiger players eclipsed double-digits between Jaxson Hudson with 14 points and Derek Rockett with 20. Coach Tanner Burton spoke about the fourth quarter.

Higbee loses their third game of the season to fall to 18-3. Brunswick advances to 15-5 and will have the top seed at the upcoming CLAA tournament.

In the girl’s game the Lady Tigers cruised to a 60-31 win. Lauren Spilman and Alie Mitchell both scored 20 points in the win. Coach Burton.

Senior Kendra Zeilstra led Brunswick with 12. Higbee improved to 15-6 with the Lady Cats falling to 13-7.
