Brookfield Moving to the Grand River Conference

The Brookfield School Board has approved the Bulldogs’ move to the Grand River Conference beginning in the 2024-25 school year. Superintendent Dr. Kyle Collins explains how the move out of the Clarence Cannon Conference came about.

The move comes just days after rival Marceline made the same move out of the Lewis & Clark Conference. Collins says the Tigers’ move to the Grand River influenced their decision.

Less travel and falling enrollment numbers were among the reasons that played into Brookfield’s move. Collins says their wrestling team also played a role in the switch to the Grand River.

Brookfield has spent over the past decade in the Clarence Cannon Conference. They will play their final season in the CCC during the 2023-24 school year.
