The winner of the 2019 Missouri Leopold Conservation Award says adopting conservation practices on the farm does more than just benefit the environment. Kenny Brinker of Auxvasse, whose family has row-crop and hog farrowing-to-weaning operations on their farm, says adopting practices like terracing and cover crops is important to sustaining the farm for future generations.

Brinker adds that adopting conservation practices not only preserves the family farm, but potentially society as a whole.

Kenny Brinker of Auxvasse began farming in Callaway County in 1993 after relocating from Franklin County outside Saint Louis.
