Bridge Replacement Beginning on Route 136 in Schuyler County

Weather permitting, crews Monday will begin setting signs preparing for the removal of the bridge on Highway 136 over the abandoned railroad about a mile west of Highway 63 near Lancaster. Preliminary work will begin May 30th, followed by the bridge closing June 5th, for about 35 days. The bridge will be replaced with a culvert, and all work should be done by mid-July. The contract includes an additional project for the bridge replacement project located on Highway 6 over the Chariton River, a mile east of Highway 149 near Novinger. This work began in March with occasional lane closures expected. In early fall, once the bridge is completed, a 28-day road closure is expected to complete work on tie-ins and approaches.
