Boonville basketball earned a pair of nonconference victories at Moberly Thursday. The Boonville boys outscored Moberly by 21 in the fourth en route to a 68-52 win. The Spartans entered the half up 12.

Pirates head coach Mark Anderson returned to Moberly after he coached the Spartans for seven years. Anderson revealed what changed for 6-1 Boonville in the second half.

Both Charlie Bronakowski and D.J. Wesolak scored 14 for the Pirates. Spartans head coach Cord Hagedorn evaluated inexperienced Moberly’s stellar first half.

Hagedorn’s 1-5 Spartans led after each of the first three quarters. Jaisten Payne provided 17 of his 23 points in the first half.

Addison Brownfield scored 17 as the Lady Pirates rolled past the Lady Spartans 57-26. Boonville coach Jaryt Hunziker talked about the sophomore’s performance.

Kourtney Kendrick finished with 12 points. Jodie Bass had 11. Moberly’s Mary Billington had a team-high 12 points and Alessia Oliver put in nine. Freshman Kennedy Messer was held to just one point. Moberly coach Tony Vestal hoped to use the game as a learning experience.
