Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Found Dead at Home

Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Knight was found dead at his Columbia home Saturday morning. Columbia Police Chief Geoff Jones said officers were dispatched to Memorial Court around 9:35 for an apparent gunshot death and he does not believe there was any foul play. Knight had been Boone County’s prosecuting attorney since 2006 and worked in the office since 1992. He was not intending to seek reelection in 2024. Governor Mike Parson will appoint his replacement.
