Last month, it was announced that the 2020 Boone County Fair was canceled due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Boone County Fair Board President Jeff Cook says the final decision wasn’t made by the fair board.

After being held for the past four years in Sturgeon, the fair was scheduled to return to Columbia in 2020. Cook says the cancellation of this year’s fair may have been a blessing in disguise for the fair’s setup in Columbia.

While this year’s Boone County Fair is canceled, the fair’s livestock shows and the youth arts and ham show will still be held. The livestock shows will take place July 14th through the 18th in Centralia, while the youth arts and ham show will take place in Hallsville July 18th and 19th.
