Boone County Detention Officer Arrested for Child Pornopgraphy Possession

A Fulton man, employed as a detention officer by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, has been arrested for possession of child pornography.  the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force had been conducting an investigation into the downloading and sharing of suspected child pornography files by a Fulton resident. At 9:30 Wednesday morning members of the Fulton Police Department, Callaway County Sheriff’s Department and members of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force served a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of State Street. Evidence of child pornography possession was found, resulting in the arrest of 33-year old Kevin Downey of Fulton for possession of child pornography and promoting child pornography. Downey is being held in the Callaway County Jail. He had been employed as a detention officer for six and a half years. His employment with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department has been terminated.
