Boaters Reminded to be Responsible While on Missouri Waters

Residents throughout Missouri will be on the state’s waterways over the next several months. If you’re on a boat, there are a number of precautions to take. Macon County Conservation Agent Jared Kelly says one is to make sure you have the necessary safety devices onboard.

Once out on the water, the next safety precaution involves finding a safe place to anchor the boat.

Boaters are also asked to be courteous with their speed, especially near other boats and people. Kelly adds some advice if you’re renting a boat.

Boat owners should check their boats for leaks or dents before taking it to the water for the first time this year.
