Blevins Era to Begin for North Callaway Football

Travis Blevins is set for a new chapter in his coaching career as he will lead his alma mater, North Callaway onto the football field, in 2021. Blevins had spent the past two years as Mexico’s Athletic Director. He takes over a North Callaway squad that went 7-3 last season. Blevins says he’s grateful for the opportunity to come home to coach.

Prior to his time at Mexico, Blevins served as a defensive coordinator for North Callaway for five years. His previous head coaching experience was an eight-year stint at Parkway South from 2005-2012. Blevins discusses his philosophy for coaching high school athletes.

The Thunderbirds return a strong group of players that reached the district semi-finals last season.

North Callaway racked up an average of 34.3 points-per-game last season. Blevins says he intends to maintain that strong offensive mindset this season.

The Thunderbirds will open the season this Friday at Louisiana. They will begin a stretch of three-straight home games the following week against archrival South Callaway. You can hear our full interview with coach Blevins and our other area coaches Wednesday night during our annual Kickoff Show beginning at 5:30 pm on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com
