Bill Dealing with County Financial Statements Moving Through the House

A bill that would change the law regarding county financial statements is moving through committee and is expected to be on the house floor in the coming weeks. Bill sponsor, Representative Peggy McGaugh of Carrollton, says the bill has been making progress through the house.

The senate companion bill is from Senator Karla Eslinger of Wasola.

McGaugh’s bill would require counties to publish their financial statements in a local newspaper on or before March 1st of each year. Prior to being elected, McGaugh served for 32 years with the Carroll County Clerk’s office.
