Big Third Quarter Leads to Blowout Win for Marceline
Marceline racked up 20 points in the third quarter to blow past Fayette 37-0 Friday night at Chester Ray Stadium. Marceline grabbed a 14-0 halftime lead courtesy of a pair of touchdown passes by Jacob Stallo. On the opening drive of the third quarter, Marceline faced a 4th and 2 in its own territory when Stallo found Will Heller open over the middle.
Colin Schowe with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Stallo added a third quarter touchdown run and Jaxon Schmitt recovered a fumble in the end zone for a defensive score. The Tigers came into the game averaging 15 points a game. Marceline coach Mark Ross said it was good to see the offense get on track this week.
Jace Bixenman collected six catches for 95 yards and a touchdown and added two interceptions. Bixenman boasts five picks over the first four weeks. Ross said Bixenman has been doing it all for them this season.
This marks the third straight regular season game where Fayette has been shutout by Marceline. The Falcons tallied 224 yards of offense, but five turnovers undid all their hard work. Fayette coach Mike Thompson discussed his offense’s struggles.
Fayette played with heavy hearts following the passing of David Moore Thursday night. Moore was the father of D.J. and Brandon Moore, who both played for the Falcons against Marceline. Thompson said he liked the way his team battled against the adversity.
