Missouri Department of Labor officials recently revealed that over 150-million dollars in unemployment payments were given out by mistake to roughly 46,000 Missourians. Legislation is moving forward in the state legislature that would forgive some of the people that received the overpayments. Representative Peggy McGaugh of Carrollton explains the situation.

McGaugh says multiple entities will be tasked with determining what was and wasn’t fraudulent.

The average overpayment to Missourians was 4,000 dollars. Bi-partisan bills to forgive the overpayments are currently making their way through the House and Senate.
