Atlanta’s Christy Picks Up Poultry Production Proficiency Award

A lifelong passion for raising poultry has paid off for one Atlanta FFA member. Dane Christy is this year’s winner of the proficiency award in poultry production. He tells Regional Radio of some of the issues he’s had to overcome.
Christy’s flock of 79 birds are of several different species, allowing him to sell eggs from his layers and exhibit show birds at competitions and petting zoos. His interest in animal science landed Christy a spot in an apprenticeship over the summer at Busch Gardens in Tampa.
Christy will be a senior this fall. He says he hopes to attend a four-year university and study ornithology.
