The Atlanta Lady Hornets and the Canton Lady Tigers will look to move a step closer to a trip to the Missouri Class 1 Final Four in Springfield when they face off Wednesday evening in Canton. Atlanta will bring a 20-3 record into tonight’s contest. They defeated Schuyler County 7-1 on Saturday to capture their third district title in five years. Atlanta head coach Courtney Garnett says focus will be key for her team.

Atlanta’s offense has been very strong this year. The Lady Hornets come into the contest averaging ten runs a game. Garnett says it will be important for her team to have quality at-bats against Canton pitcher Abigail Hultz.

Meanwhile, the Canton Lady Tigers are looking to return to the Final Four for the fourth time in six years. Their last trip yielded a state title in 2017. Canton head coach Jonathan Bastian says their veteran pitcher and catcher tandem helps drive the team.

The Lady Tigers have allowed just 29 runs this season, while racking up a 20-1 record. Bastian also feels his team’s focus will be crucial to their success going forward.
