Among the summer projects in the Kirksville School District will be two that will address some aging equipment at Kirksville High School and Ray Miller Elementary School. The project at Ray Miller will deal with asbestos abatement. Kirksville Superintendent Bob Webb says this project will center around the boiler room in that building.

The asbestos issue at Ray Miller Elementary School was discovered after workers began looking into the repair of the pumps in the boiler room. Webb explains the asbestos abatement portion of the project will involve.

During this month’s meeting, the Kirksville School Board also opened bidding for the Kirksville High School restroom renovation project. Webb says this project has been needed for a while.

Work on both projects is set to begin as soon as summer break begins in the Kirksville School District.
