Moberly Police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a Moberly convenience store last night. Around 8:20, Moberly Police officers responded to the Daily Mart Gas Station in the 300 block of West Rollins Street in reference to a report of an armed robbery. It was reported that a man entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. He was given the money and exited the store, running on foot to the west. Moments later an officer on patrol noticed a man matching the given description in the 600 block of Rollins Street, and attempted to make contact. The man again ran, with officers pursuing on foot but losing sight of him temporarily in the yards of homes in the area.

After law enforcement had created a perimeter, the man was again spotted running to the east behind area buildings, and he was again pursued on foot by officers behind buildings in the 500 block of West Reed Street. The man climbed onto a building rooftop and remained there momentarily. Before a State Highway Patrol aircraft could arrive, the man came down and was taken into custody without further incident.

The man was unable to post bond and was taken to the Randolph County Justice Center. Charges of first degree robbery and armed criminal action have been forwarded to the Randolph County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.
