An area baseball coach is receiving one of the highest honors possible in the state of Missouri. La Plata baseball assistant coach Andy Jackson will be inducted into the Missouri Baseball Coach Association Hall of Fame this January. Jackson calls this a humbling honor.

Jackson is only the 72nd individual in the state to receive his honor. He fell in love with the game when he was seven years old and it turned into a successful high school, and college playing career. After his collegiate career, he took a graduate assistant position with Truman State and then eventually became the head coach at his alma mater, Kirksville. Jackson says he learned a lot about himself as a coach in those first few years.

Jackson explains the process of how he was selected into the Hall of Fame.

Jackson also currently serves as the high school principal for the La Plata school district. He will officially be inducted January 18th at the annual coaches clinic in Jefferson City.
