Farmers now have the opportunity to select their coverage for major crops under a pair of programs re-authorized by the new Farm Bill. Farm Service Agency administrator Richard Fordyce says the current sign-up window will cover both the 2019 and 2020 growing years.

The sign-up deadline is March 15th, meaning producers have time to check out tools on FSA’s website that Fordyce says can help them make an informed decision.

Fordyce adds that Agricultural Risk Coverage payments will now be calculated by county, taking into consideration production data from the Risk Management Agency. Producers will need to visit their local FSA office to complete enrollment in either program. Farmers may have the option to change their enrollment for the 2021 growing year.
