Missouri Governor Mike Parson recently signed House Bill 16 into law. This bill will provide emergency federal relief for Missouri’s landlords and renters. Representative Peggy McGaugh of Carrollton details how much money will be provided in the relief package.

The U.S. Congress had previously passed the Emergency Rental Assistance Program in December 2020. The program allows for state and local governments to assist households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due to the ongoing pandemic. McGaugh says the funds from this program will go a long way in helping these struggling Missourians.

Utility help provided from the funds includes electricity, gas, water, trash removal, and certain energy costs.
