Ameren Missouri has closed the acquisition of its first wind energy center. The company has purchased the High Prairie Renewable Energy Center located across Adair and Schuyler Counties. It is the first of two planned investments in wind generation in Missouri. Ameren recently released plans to invest approximately four-and-a-half billion dollars in 31 hundred megawatts of renewable generation by 2030. Ameren is expected to acquire a second wind energy center in Atchison County. Ameren Missouri anticipates the center’s 175 turbines will produce enough energy to power the equivalent of 120 thousand homes in 2021.
