Adler Tosses Five Touchdown Passes as Westran Rolls on Homecoming

Sophomore quarterback Gage Adler threw five touchdown passes to five different receivers as the Westran Hornets cruised past the Fayette Falcons 49-0 on Homecoming. After recovering the opening kickoff the Hornets scored three plays in on a 23-yard touchdown pass by Adler to Brennon Long. After getting a quick stop on Fayette’s opening drive Adler needed only one play for his second score.

Colin Schowe with the call on Superstation KRES. Marshall Kitchen had three receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown. Adler went on to throw touchdown passes to Jack Harlan, Brody Kallmeyer and DC Dale. He finished the game 11-13 for 222 yards. Adler also added an interception on defense. Coach Andrew Baxley praised his signal caller’s performance.

Adler’s first three touchdown passes all came on screen passes. Baxley discussed the key to the success of those plays.

Westran’s defense held the Falcons to 160 yards of offense. Fayette coach Kole Hinton said they lost the battle up front.

The Falcons also committed three turnovers in the defeat. Hinton said this game showed where the offense needs to improve.

Fayette falls to 2-2 and hosts Marceline next week. Westran improves to 3-1 and will welcome Putnam County to Huntsville in week five. You can hear full postgame interviews with both coaches online at
