Abnormal Dryness Persists Around Columbia, Drought Still In Lamar

The end of the drought emergency in Missouri coincides with more of Missouri returning to normal moisture levels, but one patch of drought remains in the state.  The weekly US Drought Monitor continues to show moderate drought conditions for much of Barton County, along with southern Vernon and northwestern Jasper counties.  Following precipitation for the rest of the state, this is now the only patch of drought in the state.  However, four areas of Missouri remain in abnormally dry condition, most notably central Boone, a majority of Cooper, northern Moniteau and northwestern Callaway counties.  Atchison County and a portion of northern Scotland County are also in post-drought condition.  Just over four percent of Missouri remains impacted by abnormal dryness or drought.
