Abnormal Dryness Expands Into Oregon County

A fifth county in South Central Missouri has entered abnormal dryness in the past week. USDA’s Drought Monitor indicates that the eastern and central portions of Oregon County are now in pre-drought stage, joining areas of Carter, Reynolds, Shannon and Wayne counties that have been impacted for the past month. This remains the only patch of abnormal dryness in Missouri, accounting for over 2.1 percent of the state’s land.
