Aaron O’Laughlin Stepping Down as Westran Football Coach

After spending five years as Westran head football coach Aaron O’Laughlin has announced his decision to step down. O’Laughlin says the decision was done for family reasons.

The Hornets went 32-25 during O’Laughlin’s tenure. That included a run to the Class 1 semifinals in 2018. O’Laughlin also served five years as an assistant coach at Westran. He says there are plenty of fond memories from his time at Westran.

The Hornets went 5-6 in each of the last two seasons as head coach under O’Laughlin. He says the future is bright for the Westran program.

O’Laughlin will maintain his positions as Westran’s high school assistant principal and athletic director. He says they’ll have a deliberate approach to hiring a new head coach.

Along with his time at Westran, O’Laughlin spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons as head coach at Greenfield. He was also an assistant coach at South Shelby in 2014 and Marceline in 2015.
