The Marceline Tigers and Palmyra Panthers will play each other in the Class 2 state softball semifinals Friday at 12:45 on KRES. The winner will play in the championship game Saturday against the East Carter/Sherwood winner on the other side of the bracket. Today we will learn a little more about these two opponents.

East Carter is returning to Springfield for a second consecutive year after finishing in fourth place one year ago. The Lady Red Birds enter the Friday semifinal 22-6, and have yet to lose to a Class 2 school. Coach Teresa Kearbey says adding a lot of large class schools to the schedule this year has helped them prepare for this moment.
