Beacon Replacement Taking Shape at Macon Airport

Progress is being made on the rotating beacon replacement and relocation project at the Macon-Fower Memorial Airport. Mayor Tony Petre says a construction services agreement was approved at a recent city council meeting.

The current beacon is outdated, and replacement parts are almost impossible to come by. Petre says the new beacon will be cost-effective.

Macon is still waiting on final approval from MoDOT before work begins. City officials hope to start the project in the spring.
