8th Ranked Hornets Survive, Harrisburg Girls Pull Away at Westran

Huntsville was the scene for senior night as Harrisburg and Westran split the doubleheader, with the Lady Bulldogs winning 59-40 and the Hornets securing a 46-43 victory. The nightcap between the Hornets and the Bulldogs came down to the final possession. Westran found itself down 27-19 in the second quarter. Junior Trent Brandow gave the Hornets new life at the buzzer.

Steven Findley Jr with the call on 99.9 The Captain and centralmoinfo.com. The Hornets were without leading-scorer Langden Kitchen for a majority of the opening half due to foul trouble. Westran captured the lead late in the fourth with a Marshall Kitchen free throw to make it 42-41. Harrisburg senior Brayden Ott had one final attempt at the buzzer for Harrisburg from the corner that bounced off the rim.

Langden Kitchen scored all 10 of his points in the second half. Fellow senior Ashden Dale led the team with 11. Coach Chris Sander talked about the difference between the two halves.

Harrisburg senior Braden Wyatt also battled foul trouble during the contest, but still managed to produce 13 points, 8 of which came in the third quarter. Coach Kyle Fisher.

Westran improves to 22-3 and 5-1 in the conference with one conference game remaining against Schuyler County. Harrisburg suffers their second conference loss and falls to 15-9.

The Lady Bulldogs took care of business against Westran by outscoring the Lady Hornets 22-11 in the fourth quarter. Brecca Thornhill scored a game high 21 points, 10 of which came in the second quarter. A relentless Harrisburg defense made the difference.
