The Macon Electric Cooperative will be holding their 81st Annual Meeting Tuesday from 2-6pm at the Macon Electric Cooperative Headquarters. The event is designed to allow cooperative members to elect directors for the group’s three districts. Macon Electric Cooperative Communications Specialist Rebecca Miller says the set-up for the meeting will be much different this year due to COVID-19.

Cooperative members will also receive a special gift for voting at this year’s event. Absentee and online voting was also available to members leading up to the event. Miller says they anticipate voter turnout to still be strong despite the change in meeting format.

The Macon Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting is typically a much larger gathering held at the Macon County Fairgrounds. It usually features a dinner and live entertainment to go along with the voting and business meeting. The format for future meetings is yet to be determined.
