Glasgow Hosts School Day Basketball Games

Glasgow High School will be the site of a unique event this afternoon. The Yellowjackets and Lady Jackets will be holding school day games in front of their student body along with visiting students from Keytesville. The Glasgow boys will open play at noon against Keyetesville. Glasgow boys head coach Mick Cropp says this is an exciting event for the school.

The Tigers of Keytesville will be Glasgow’s opponent in the boys’ contest. Keytesville comes in with a winless record. Head coach Nathan Yung says he’s looking for a high work rate from his team for four quarters.

On the girl’s side, the Lady Jackets are led by Halle Fummeler who is averaging 19 points per game. Due to low numbers in the Keytesville program the Columbia Battle JV team will be the Lady Jackets’ opponent. Glasgow girls’ coach Molly Monnig says playing a junior varsity team provides a change of pace for her team.

The Battle girls’ basketball program is led at the varsity level by coach Dustyn Yung, who is a Glasgow graduate and played for the Yellowjackets under Cropp. Yung says his program is excited to take part in this unique experience.

Yung is in his second year at Battle. He previously spent two years as an assistant coach for the MACC Lady Hounds. Pregame coverage from Glasgow will begin at 11:50 am on 99.9 The Captain and centralmoinfo.com. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
