South Shelby Hires Adam Gunterman as New Head Football Coach
A long time Palmyra assistant coach is taking his first step into the world of head coaching at the varsity level. Adam Gunterman has been named as the new South Shelby football coach. Gunterman spent the past eight years as an assistant coach with the Panthers. During his tenure, he served as coordinator for the Panthers’ o-line, d-line, and special teams. Gunterman says he learned one very important lesson during his time at Palmyra.
Despite the distractions related to the coronavirus pandemic, Gunterman knows raising interest in the South Shelby program will be crucial ahead of summer practices.
Gunterman says there were a couple of different factors that led to him applying for the South Shelby position.
Gunterman will take over a South Shelby squad that went 4-7 in 2019. Longtime South Shelby head coach Rob Wilt retired from the position three months ago. Wilt will continue his role as South Shelby Athletic Director.
