The Missouri State Highway Patrol released its Memorial Day weekend counting period of traffic crashes Tuesday. Most numbers are down from 2020. The Highway Patrol counted 270 crashes compared to the 310 in 2020. There were 82 injuries and four fatalities compared to the 126 injuries and 10 fatalities in 2020. Arrests were up however. The Highway Patrol counted 112 DWI’s and 77 drug related arrests. In 2020, there were 118 arrests.

On the waterways, there were 10 boating crashes compared to the 11 last year, only two injuries compared to the seven, and just one fatality. BWI’s were down to eight versus the 11 in 2020. There was also one drowning reported, which is the same as 2020. The Highway Patrol’s Memorial Day Holiday counting period runs from 6pm Friday to 11:59pm Memorial Day.
