MONROE CITY MAYOR DETAILS BOND ISSUE AND NEED FOR NEW PLANT

The Monroe City special election ballot will ask voters if the city should issue $7.7 million in bonds to improve the sewer system. Monroe City Mayor John Long notes the sewer plant was built in 1975 with a life expectancy of about 30 years.

The bond issue requires a two-thirds majority for passage in the November 5th election. There will be an informational meeting at the nutrition center in downtown Monroe City Thursday at 6pm.
