MACON AND MOBERLY SOFTBALL LOOK TO STOP LOSING STREAKS ON THE TURF TODAY

Both the Moberly and Macon softball teams are looking to get back on the winning track as they get ready to face each other on the new turf at Omar Bradley Field today (Thurday). The Lady Spartans come in on a four game losing streak, which includes back-to-back shutouts this week to Salisbury and Hannibal. Moberly has scored just eleven runs this season as part of their 2-4 start. However, pitching has kept Moberly in almost all of their ballgames. Lady Spartans head coach Ryan Taylor says having the pitcher-catcher combo of Lauren Koenig and Tara Ginter is very helpful.

For the Macon Tigerettes, their problem hasn’t been scoring runs. Macon is averaging seven runs a game during their 1-3 start. However, they have dropped their last three including an 11-9 loss in eleven innings Monday against Centralia. Head coach Jennifer Morris says her young team is learning as the season goes along.

Macon has won the last five meetings against Moberly dating back to a 3-1 victory in Macon in 2014. Colin Schowe and Lucas Smith will have the call of today’s game on KIRK 99.9 with pregame coverage beginning at 4:45.
