BOND HEARING SET FOR KIRKSVILLE’S REED AFTER 11-YEAR-OLD’S DEATH IN UTV ACCIDENT

A bond hearing will be held next week for the Kirksville man charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of an 11-year-old Hurdland girl in a UTV accident over the weekend. 31-year-old Brandon Reed made his initial court appearance in Knox County Tuesday. He was charged in the death of MaryJane Shea. The State Highway Patrol says she was a passenger on the UTV when Reed lost control of it trying to climb a hill on private property. It hit a tree and threw her. Reed’s blood alcohol content was .118 about 90 minutes after the accident, and the Highway Patrol said in court documents that Reed said he had been drinking both before and after the crash.
