WILLIAM PENN ASSISTANT JOINS THE TRUMAN BASKETBALL STAFF

Truman Men’s Basketball Coach Jeff Horner has announced the addition of Josh Beardsley to his coaching staff for the upcoming 2019-20 season. Beardsley formerly served as a graduate assistant coach at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa and takes over for the departing Pat Sodemann.

In two seasons with the Statesmen, Beardsley was part of a program that went 52-17 with a pair of trips to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Basketball Tournament. In 2017-18, William Penn finished 30-5 and advanced to the national semifinals. He served as William Penn’s varsity reserve team coach this past season.

Beardsley earned his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University in Civil Engineering and Psychology. He worked as a student assistant coach at Des Moines Area Community College with two regular season conference and regional championships and advancing to national final four and elite eight rounds.

He moved to Midland (Texas) junior college for two more years before heading to William Penn to earn a masters degree in Business Leadership, which was completed this past May.
