Harrisburg selected Starkey to replace Travis Kinkade, who resigned in December. Starkey served as the interim head coach at River Valley High School in Mohave Valley, Arizona this year. Fessler notes Starkey’s resignation was a sudden development.
Fessler says Starkey indicated he will remain in Arizona with his fiancée. Starkey has Missouri ties as a Cedar Hill native who played for Vianney High School and continued his career at Westminster. The Harrisburg athletics director discusses the district’s next step.
Harrisburg’s program started with a 2013 JV season that included two varsity games. The Bulldogs moved to a varsity schedule in 2014 and won a combined six games the last five years.
