In a defensive struggle Class 1 semifinal, Stanberry outlasted Community 47-40 in the Hammons Student Center in Springfield. The Lady Trojans held a 18-15 lead at half as points were at a premium. In the third quarter, the Bulldogs found a little bit of separation.

Scott Lunte and Ben Wittenstein with the call on Glory 97 and The Bulldogs preserved the lead every time Community would try to inch closer. Coach Bob Curtis’ Lady Trojans went 2 for 15 beyond the arc.

Junior Delaney Bowers paced Community with a team-high 11 points, while Stanberry’s Maddy Sager scored a game-high 20. The Lady Trojans drop to 26-3 and will face top ranked Lakeland in the third place game at 12:35 on Glory 97. Stanberry improves to 27-3 and takes on Walnut Grove in the title game tomorrow night.
