LINN CO. PLAYS FIRST SHOW-ME-SHOWDOWN GAME IN 52 YEARS AGAINST JEFFERSON

Linn County hits the Show-Me-Showdown floor for the first time in 52 years Friday with the hopes on improving on a fourth place finish in 1967. Their opponent will be the 26-4 Jefferson Eagles, the seventh ranked team in Class 1.

The Mustangs come in to the semifinal 15-7, and have rallied back to win in three of their last four games. Coach Jason White says Linn County will have to do more than attack the rim and play strong defense if they want to ground the Eagles.

The Eagles are making their eighth Show-Me-Showdown appearance in school history, but it’s the first one since a 2010 third place finish. They feature four scorers who tally double figures a game and utilized all of it in a quarterfinal win against previously undefeated Winston 55-39. Eagles coach Tim Jermain says they must respect Linn County’s shooting.
