17-YEAR-OLD MARK TWAIN STUDENT IN CUSTODY FOR ALLEGED THREAT TO SCHOOL

The Ralls County Sheriff’s Department says the Ralls County R-II School District notified the office Sunday night of an alleged threat toward Mark Twain Junior-Senior High School made on the social media app Snapchat. Deputies reviewed the posts and arrested 17 year-old Tyler Lanier of Center. Lanier attends the high school and remains in custody as of Monday afternoon pending a warrant for 1st Degree Terroristic Threats. Other adults and a juvenile have also been interviewed as part of the investigation, and the department says additional arrests are possible. Personnel from the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department, New London Police Department, Center Police Department, and Missouri State Highway Patrol provided an increased law enforcement presence at Mark Twain Monday morning to help calm potential concerns of students and parents.
