Kelly Odneal will be one of five people inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame at it’s Baseball Luncheon on May 25th. The organization announced that Monday. He is the winningest high school softball coach in Missouri history, going 515-92 from 1975 to 2007, with 485 wins at Westran, and another 30 at Jamestown. His softball teams made 15 trips to the state semifinals. Three Westran teams won state titles, in 1987, 1996 and 1999. The program also finished second eight times. Westran also won 19 district and 21 Lewis and Clark Conference titles.
His baseball teams were a combined 338-123 at Sturgeon and Westran. The 1980 and 1982 Sturgeon teams won state titles, and the Westran teams in 1986, 1989, and 1990 reached the state semifinals.
The other inductees are Missouri State’s Mark Bailey, Negro Leagues pitcher John Donaldson, sportswriter Rob Rains, and Glendale and Drury baseball coach Mark Stratton.
