Lawmakers, lobbyists and pundits continue to pour over President Biden’s proposed two-point-three trillion dollar American Jobs Plan, looking for areas to craft, cut, criticize or perhaps commend. Mike Steenhoek, executive director of the Soy Transportation Coalition, says the proposal is far from final.

Steenhoek suggests that a more narrowly focused measure, rather than a wide-ranging proposal, would gather more bipartisan support.

Mike Steenhoek of the Soy Transportation Coalition says Republicans are likely to balk over the price tag as well as a proposed increase in the corporate tax rate to 28 percent. The American Jobs Plan calls for over 621 billion dollars in transportation infrastructure, with funding designated for roads and bridges, freight and passenger rail, and the inland waterways system. Funding is also proposed for high-speed broadband, electric grid, and drinking water infrastructure.
