18th Ranked Truman Hosts 2019 GLVC Champion Lindenwood To Start Conference Play

Great Lakes Valley Conference play starts Saturday and the marquee matchup will take place under the lights at Stokes Stadium where 18th ranked Truman State hosts 2019 GLVC champion Lindenwood. Two years ago in St. Charles, the Lions rallied from 17 down in the 4th quarter to beat Truman 28-24 en route to the conference title and NCAA Playoff appearance. Coach Jed Stugart….

Cody Schrader has keyed the Bulldogs 4-0 start with 634 yards rushing, which is second in Division II, and an average of 158 yards a game, which is third in the country. ‘Dogs coach Gregg Nesbitt says opposing defenses can’t sit on the run….

Lindenwood is 2-2, but one of their losses was to D-1 FCS finalist South Dakota State. The Lions offense is led by 2019 Player of the Year Cade Brister. Nesbitt says Brister’s ability to make plays with his legs gives his defense more to think about….

Stugart says Brister is receiving an assist from a ground game that has produced over 200 yards each of the last two games….

Lindenwood was the only GLVC football team that didn’t play in the spring. Truman’s Jaylen Jefferson leads Division II football with two kick return touchdowns.
