Tilley
Missouri's House Majority Floor Leader believes he'll be House Speaker in January.
Republicans currently control the House 88-74, with one vacancy. State Rep. Steven Tilley, R-Perryville, delivered the keynote address at the Randolph Area Pachyderm Club's annual indoor picnic at the Lodge in Rothwell Park. He will be Speaker, if the Republicans retain control of the chamber in November. Tilley predicts there will be more than 90 Republicans seats in January:

During an interview after his presentation, Leader Tilley said he has a good working relationship with Gov. Jay Nixon, D-Mo., and says he'll work with him on areas where they agree. But Tilley says he will oppose the Governor when he disagrees with him. For instance, Tilley says Governor Nixon has been inconsistent on the issue of tax credits:

Tilley presented a Distinguished Service Award to term-limited State Rep. Therese Sander, R-Moberly. Tilley told the audience that no one on either side of the aisle ever questioned Sander's honesty or sincerity.
During the event, Sam Richardson of the Pachyderm Club also presented plaques to Moberly Mayor Bob Riley and City Councilman Herb Lawrence for their work on the Mamtek project. Richardson also praised Moberly Area Economic Development Director Corey Mehaffy and City Council members Don Burton, Dick Boots and Nancy Copenhaver for their work on the Mamtek project. They were unable to attend the event. Mamtek will create 612 new manufacturing jobs at a facility on County Road 1325 and will invest 46 million dollars in the local economy.
