The Missouri women’s basketball team notched its highest seeding ever, earning the fifth seed in the Lexington Region as announced by the NCAA Monday. The 24-7 Tigers will head to Palo Alto, California, to take on 30-4 Florida Gulf Coast in the first round Saturday. Coach Robin Pingeton says she doesn’t know much about the Eagles yet.

Drake assistant coach and Monroe City native Nicci Hays Fort is back in the NCAA Tournament. The Missouri Valley Conference champion Bulldogs are a 13 seed and will play number 4 seed Texas A&M in College Station this Friday at 11:00. Sara Rhine of Eldon is the second leading scorer for Drake (15.5) and leading rebounder (6.0). The Bulldogs have a record of 26-7.
