Truman’s “double-double” man adds another honor to his 2017-18 list. Senior Zach Fischer was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Midwest Region Second Team. Fischer was previously named First-Team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference, three times named GLVC Player of the Week, and was an Academic All-District selection.
Fischer started all 31 of the team’s games this season and scored in double-figures for all but two of them. The 6-4 forward racked up 17 double-doubles, which are the most since Truman Hall of Famer, David Winslow, had that many 37 years ago. He was three-tenths away from averaging double figure rebounds to go with a team-high 17 points per contest. Fischer’s 62.4 field goal percentage broke Glenn Jacobs’ single-season record that had stood for 20 years and Fischer took the second-most attempts of anyone in the top 10. For the single-season chart, the St. Louis native also finished tied for sixth in total points (528) and eighth in total rebounds (301).
It is the 10th time in program history, the Truman State University men’s basketball has an all-region performer.
