TRUMAN GETS 7TH RANKED GRAND VALLEY STATE FOR HOMECOMING

For the second time this season Truman will play a top ten team when 7th ranked Grand Valley State comes to Stokes Stadium for the Bulldogs’ homecoming game this Saturday. The Lakers opened the season at number two then stubbed their toe against an Indianapolis team that is now ranked 5th. They have reeled off five straight wins since, with an average margin of victory being 35 points. The Bulldogs enter this non-conference matchup with a record of 1-5. Truman coach Gregg Nesbitt is not like some coaches that worry about homecoming distractions…..

As a sophomore, running back Marty Carter led the nation in rushing last year with just over 1,900 yards in helping the Lakers go undefeated until a national quarterfinal loss to Ferris State. Coach Nesbitt says Carter leads a talented offensive group….

Grand Valley State quarterback Bart Williams has 15 touchdown passes and just one interception. While protecting the football, Williams is still averaging almost 14 yards a completion. Lakers coach Matt Mitchell likes to get yards in chunks….
